Introduction

This guide helps you replace a faulty AirPort/Bluetooth cable in your MacBook. Agar aapka WiFi ya Bluetooth properly nahi kaam kar raha, toh cable issue ho sakta hai.

What You’ll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver (#00)

  • Spudger (plastic prying tool)

  • Anti-static work surface

  • Patience & care

Step 1 — Remove Lower Case Screws

  • Flip the MacBook upside down.

  • Remove these 10 screws holding the bottom cover:

    1. 3 × 14.4 mm Phillips #00

    2. 3 × 3.5 mm Phillips #00

    3. 4 × 3.5 mm shouldered Phillips #00

  • Jab screws wapas lagao, ensure they align per the slight curve of the case — they don’t go straight down.

Step 2 — Remove Lower Case

  • Use your fingers near the vent area to pry the lower case away from the body.

  • Once clips release, lift off the lower case.

Step 3 — Disconnect Battery

  • Using the edge of a spudger, pry the battery connector upward from its socket on the logic board.

  • Better is to pry from both short sides alternately (“walk” it out) to avoid damaging connector corners.

Step 4 — Bend Battery Cable Slightly

  • After disconnecting, bend the battery cable slightly away from its socket.

  • This ensures it doesn’t accidentally touch/connect while you work further.

Step 5 — Disconnect AirPort/Bluetooth Connector (on Logic Board)

  • Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up the AirPort/Bluetooth cable connector from its socket on the logic board.

Step 6 — Peel EMI Tape

  • Above the optical drive, the AirPort/Bluetooth cable connector is covered by a piece of EMI tape.

  • Gently peel back that tape to expose the connector.

Step 7 — Disconnect AirPort/Bluetooth Cable (on Board Side)

  • On the AirPort/Bluetooth board side, use spudger tip to lift the connector out of its socket.

Step 8 — Remove the Cable from MacBook

  • Carefully pull out the AirPort/Bluetooth cable from the assembly.

  • Ensure it detaches cleanly without snagging other parts.

Step 9 — Reassembly (Reverse the Steps)

  • To put everything back:

    1. Insert the replacement cable the same way the old one was routed.

    2. Connect it to the AirPort/Bluetooth board side first, then to the logic board.

    3. Cover with EMI tape again.

    4. Bend battery cable back into place and reconnect the battery.

    5. Place lower case back and secure with all 10 screws in correct positions.

Tips & Precautions

  • Always work on anti-static surface or use grounding strap.

  • Don’t pull connectors at angle — keep pulling vertical (parallel to board) to avoid damage.

  • The EMI tape is thin and delicate — peel gently.

  • Before final screw tightening, check that the cable is seated properly and not pinched.

  • After reassembly, test WiFi & Bluetooth to ensure the new cable works.
