💡 Introduction
Replacing the upper case matlab pura top shell jisme keyboard, trackpad, etc. hote hain.
Iske liye aapko MacBook ka lagbhag saara internal component nikalna padega. Aur haan — apna purana trackpad new upper case mein transfer karna bhi zaroori hai.
🧰 What You’ll Need
Phillips #00 screwdriver
Torx T6 screwdriver
T8 Torx screwdriver
Spudger (thin plastic pry tool)
Replacement upper case shell
Patience, careful hands
🔩 Step 1: Remove the Lower Case
MacBook ko ulta karo (bottom side up).
10 screws nikaalo:
• 3 × 14.4 mm Phillips #00
• 3 × 3.5 mm Phillips #00
• 4 × 3.5 mm shouldered Phillips #00Jab screws wapas lagao, thoda angle mein daalo — kyunki case thodi curved hai (straight daalne se threads damage ho sakte hain).
Step 2: Take Off the Lower Case
Vent ke paas lower case ko fingers se thoda pry karo.
Fir lower case ko pura utha kar side rakh lo.
Step 3: Disconnect the Battery Connector
Spudger ki edge se battery connector ko logic board se gently upar pry karo.
Better hai thoda-thoda dono short sides se “walk” karo — connectors ke corners fragile hote hain.
Step 4: Bend the Battery Cable
Battery cable ko thoda side mein bend karo, jisse kaam karte waqt woh accidentally connect na ho jaye.
Step 5: Disconnect Fan
Spudger se fan connector ko gently upar uthao.
Twist motion use kar sakte ho to release it.
Fan socket fragile hai — break mat karna.
Step 6: Remove Fan Screws
Remove these screws holding the fan:
• 1 × 7.2 mm T6 Torx screw
• 2 × 5.3 mm T6 Torx screwsFir fan ko nikaalo, cable ka dhyan rakhte hue.
Step 7: Disconnect Right Speaker / Subwoofer Cable
Spudger tip se cable ko retaining finger ke neeche se nikaalo.
Fir upar ki taraf lift karo tak connector logic board se alag ho jaaye.
Step 8: Disconnect Camera Cable
Camera cable ko slide out karo from its socket (parallel to board).
Agar cable fragile feel ho, spudger se “walk” karo out of its metal tabs.
Step 9: Disconnect Four More Cables

Socket is very fragile.
Step 15: Remove Logic Board Screws
Remove these screws holding logic board:
• 5 × 3.6 mm T6 Torx
• 2 × 4.3 mm T6 Torx
• 2 × 7.2 mm T6 TorxKuch models mein screws thode chhote ho sakte hain (e.g. 3.0 mm, 3.6 mm, 6.7 mm).
Step 16: Remove Display Bracket Screws
Remove 2 screws:
• 1 × 8.6 mm Phillips
• 1 × 5.5 mm PhillipsFir display data cable retainer ko upper case se remove karo.
Step 17: Peel Off Microphone
Spudger tip se microphone ko gently adhesive se peel karo, remove upper case se.
Step 18: Remove Logic Board
Mind karte hue connectors ke edges — lift logic board from optical drive side.
Without flexing board, pull it out of upper case, ensuring DC-In flexible cable doesn’t get snagged.
Step 19: Remove Two Tri-point Screws
On upper case, remove:
• 1 × 5.6 mm tri-point screw
• 1 × 13 mm tri-point screw
Step 20: Peel Off Battery Warning Label
Carefully peel the warning label stuck between battery & optical drive.
Don’t remove the label from battery itself.
Step 21: Remove Battery from Upper Case
Use its pull tab to lift battery out.
Step 22: Remove Hard Drive Bracket Screws
Remove two Phillips screws securing hard drive bracket to upper case (they’ll stay captive to bracket).
Remove the bracket (may be tightly seated).
Step 23: Remove Hard Drive
Use pull tab to lift hard drive.
Pull hard drive cable away from drive.
Remove drive from upper case.
Step 24: Remove Four Screws from Upper Case
Two 3 mm Phillips
Two 9.7 mm Phillips
Step 25: Peel Up IR Sensor / Sleep LED Ribbon Cable
Gently peel up this thin ribbon cable from its adhesive on upper case.
Step 26: Remove Front Hard Drive Bracket
Pull front hard drive bracket (with IR sensor) away from upper case front edge.
Also remove the hard drive cable with it.
Step 27: Peel Camera Cable & Adjust AirPort Cable
Move AirPort/Bluetooth ribbon cable aside.
Peel camera cable off adhesive from subwoofer / AirPort bracket.
De-route camera cable under retaining fingers in bracket.
Step 28: Disconnect Four Antenna Connectors
On AirPort/Bluetooth board, use spudger tip to pry up each of the four antenna connectors from sockets.
De-route each cable from their channels in the bracket.
Step 29: Remove Optical Drive Screws

• Two 10.3 mm Phillips
• Two 3.1 mm Phillips
• One 5 mm Phillips
Step 30: Remove AirPort / Bluetooth & Subwoofer Assembly
Pull that assembly upward until they clear each other.
Remove AirPort/Bluetooth board.
Step 31: Remove Optical Drive from Upper Case
Remove three 2.7 mm screws securing optical drive.
Lift the optical drive from the display edge, remove from upper case.
Step 32: Peel Right Speaker Cable
Peel the right speaker cable from upper case.
Step 33: Remove Right Speaker / Subwoofer
Use plastic opening tool to pry right speaker from adhesive.
Start prying from edge near display (agar opposite side se start karoge, antennas damage ho sakte hain).
Continue prying until speaker frees from upper case.
Pull it out from under optical drive opening.
Step 34: Remove Display-side Screws
Remove two of the three 6 mm T8 Torx screws on right side of display.
(Leave one screw to help future steps.)
Step 35: Remove Foam Tape Covering Hinge Screws

Just one turn for now — you’ll adjust later.
Step 42: Transfer Trackpad to New Case
Thread your old trackpad cable through the slot in new upper case.
Hold cable in place and insert trackpad so its retaining tabs fit under upper case lip.
Pull trackpad cable while seating the trackpad flush.
Step 43: Insert Outer Screws on Trackpad
Insert a 1.2 mm Phillips screw into each of two outer trackpad holes.
Tighten, then back them out ~¼ turn to help alignment.
Step 44: Adjust Trackpad Click
While trying clicks on trackpad, gently tighten the set screw until click feel restores to factory style.
Too loose → too much play before click; too tight → clicks too easy and weak.
Step 45: Re-align & Tighten Trackpad
Flip upper case so keyboard side faces up.
Center the trackpad in its hole.
Tighten outer screws along trackpad’s inner edge.
If alignment is good, install remaining screws.
Check set screw again — make sure click feel is correct.
🔁 Reassembly
Ab sab steps reverse order mein karo:
Reinstall speakers, optical drive, antennas, cables, logic board
Reconnect battery
Attach display back to upper case
Reattach all screws
Replace lower case & screws
Test functionalities (keyboard, trackpad, display, ports, speakers)
💡 Tips & Notes
Keep track of which screw kahan thi — bahut chhote aur similar sizes hain.
Cable connectors ko plastic head se hi handle karo, wires se nahi.
Trackpad set screw adjustment bahut sensitive hai — adjustment patience se karo.
Cable routing important hai — clipped ya pinched cables trouble create kar sakti hain.
After reassembly, power on, test keyboard, trackpad, speakers, display, ports etc.
