💡 Introduction
Use this guide jab aapka trackpad damaged ho gaya ho ya click/gesture kaam na kar raha ho. We will walk you through replacing it.
🧰 What You Need
Phillips #00 screwdriver
Spudger (thin plastic pry tool)
Replacement trackpad (with flex cable, or reuse old cable)
Step 1: Remove the Lower Case
Flip your MacBook bottom side up.
Remove 10 screws:
• 3 × 14.4 mm Phillips #00
• 3 × 3.5 mm Phillips #00
• 4 × 3.5 mm shouldered Phillips #00Jab aap small screws wapas lagao, thoda angle mein daalo — case mein slight curvature hai, straight daalne se threads kharab ho sakte hain.
Step 2: Remove the Lower Case
Use your fingers near the vent to pry the lower case away from the body.
Then lift off the lower case and set it aside.
Step 3: Disconnect the Battery Connector
Use edge of spudger to gently pry up the battery connector from its socket on the logic board.
Best hai agar aap dono short sides se thoda-thoda pry karo (“walk” it) — corners fragile hote hain.
Step 4: Bend the Battery Cable
Gently bend the battery cable away so that it doesn’t accidentally touch or connect while working.
Step 5: Remove Battery Screws
Remove these two tri-point screws holding the battery:
• One 5.6 mm tri-point screw
• One 13 mm tri-point screw
Step 6: Peel Back the Battery Warning Label
Carefully peel the warning label that’s stuck between battery and optical drive.
Do not remove the label from the battery itself.
Step 7: Remove the Battery
Use the plastic pull tab to lift the battery out of the upper case.
Agar aap new battery laga rahe ho, toh install karne ke baad usko calibrate karna zaroori hai (100% charge karo, phir use karo jab tak low battery warning aaye, fir 5 ghante ka wait karke phir charge karo).
Step 8: Disconnect Trackpad Connector
Use flat end of spudger to carefully pry up the trackpad’s flex-cable connector from its socket on the logic board.
Step 9: Open the MacBook
Open the lid and place the MacBook on table as shown (face up).
Step 10: Remove Trackpad Screws
While holding the trackpad near the logic board edge, remove the four 1.2 mm Phillips screws located on the inner edge of trackpad.
Step 11: Free the Trackpad from Upper Case
If needed, gently pry the edge of the trackpad (closest to keyboard) out of its recess in upper case.
Then push the trackpad connector and cable down through the slot in the upper case.
Use spudger if required to guide connector past logic board.
Once the flex-cable is fully through the slot, pull the trackpad away from the outer edge and remove it.
Step 12: Transfer / Attach Flex Cable if Required
Agar aapki new trackpad ke saath flex cable nahi aaya hai, use the old cable.
• Flip open the latch on the ZIF connector (opposite side of cable).
• Use a bit of heat (hair dryer) to soften adhesive and peel off cable.
• Install the cable on new trackpad, route it through the slot, guiding it past the logic board with spudger tips if needed.
Step 13: Reinstall Trackpad
Reinsert the trackpad into its place.
Reinstall the four 1.2 mm Phillips screws along inner edge.
• First tighten all the way, then loosen about ¼ turn.
• Center-align trackpad in upper case, then tighten fully.
✅ Reassembly
Sab kuch reverse order mein wapas lagao:
1. Reconnect trackpad flex cable
2. Reinstall battery
3. Reattach lower case
4. Replace all screws
5. Power on and test the trackpad functionality
💡 Tips & Notes
Screw sizes chhote hain — dhyaan rahe kaunsa screw kahan tha.
Flex cable ko pull wires se nahi, uske connector part se hi handle karo.
Trackpad alignment pe dhyaan do — agar thoda off hoga toh click feel odd hogi.
After finishing, check trackpad clicks, multi-touch gestures etc.
