Introduction
Use this guide jab aapka hard drive cable faulty ho gaya ho. Yeh cable sleep LED aur IR sensor bhi carry karta hai.
What You’ll Need
Phillips #00 screwdriver
Spudger (plastic pry tool)
New replacement hard drive cable (correct model)
Optional: small adhesive foam bumpers (agar cable me snug fit chahiye ho)
Work on anti-static surface
Step 1 — Remove Lower Case Screws
MacBook ko upside down karo.
Remove 10 screws holding the lower case:
• 3 × 14.4 mm Phillips #00
• 3 × 3.5 mm Phillips #00
• 4 × 3.5 mm shouldered Phillips #00Jab screws wapas daalo, make sure unka direction thodi curve ke perpendicular ho (seedha down nahi).
Step 2 — Remove Lower Case
Vent ke paas finger laga ke lower case ko gently pry karo.
Jab mounting clips release ho jaayen, lower case ko lift karke nikaalo.
Step 3 — Disconnect Battery Connector
Use edge of spudger to pry the battery connector up from its socket on the logic board.
Better hai ki dono short sides se alternatingly pry karo (“walk it out”) — corners bahut delicate hote hain, toot sakte hain.
Step 4 — Bend Battery Cable Slightly
Bend battery cable thoda door from its socket, taki repair ke dauran accidentally re-connect na ho jaaye.
Step 5 — Remove Hard Drive Bracket Screws
Do Phillips screws hatao jo hard drive bracket ko upper case se fix karte hain.
In screws ko bracket ke saath hi chipka hua hi rahega (i.e. woh bracket part rahega).
Step 6 — Remove Hard Drive Bracket
Gently bracket ko lift karo aur remove karo. Kabhi kabhi woh thoda firmly seat hota hai against the upper case.
Step 7 — Partially Lift Hard Drive
Hard drive pe laga pull tab use karo aur drive ko thoda upar uthao.
Pure drive abhi mat nikaalo — woh abhi cable se connected hai.
Step 8 — Disconnect Hard Drive from Cable
Pull the hard drive cable away from the body of the hard drive.
Ab hard drive ko completely nikaal sakte ho.
Step 9 — Disconnect Hard Drive Cable from Logic Board
Use flat end of spudger to pry cable connector up from its socket on the logic board.
Step 10 — Remove Four Screws Holding Cable
Remove these screws securing the cable:
• Two 3 mm Phillips screws
• Two 9.7 mm Phillips screws
Step 11 — Peel IR / Sleep LED Ribbon Cable
Carefully peel up the thin ribbon cable (which has IR sensor / sleep LED) from the adhesive that holds it to the upper case.
Step 12 — Remove Sensor Bracket
Pull the front bracket (which contains IR sensor / sleep LED) away from the front edge of the upper case.
Step 13 — Remove Old Hard Drive Cable
Remove the old cable.
Your replacement cable may have adhesive foam bumpers — apply them as needed so that the bracket and hard drive fit snugly.
Additional sub-steps:
If your new cable doesn’t come with the front sensor bracket, transfer it from old cable.
Flip the “lever” on the ZIF connector (on old cable) using spudger, then gently pull the yellow sensor ribbon out of it.
Pry the old cable off the sensor bracket it adheres to.
Peel adhesive backing from new cable, stick it onto the sensor bracket, and reconnect the sensor bracket cable.
Many repairers wrap the thicker part of the new cable with electrical tape along both sides to prevent it from rubbing against the aluminum case ridges, which might cause shorts or damage.
Reassembly
Sab kuch reverse order me wapas lagao:
• Place new hard drive cable and secure with screws
• Reconnect the IR / LED sensor cable
• Connect cable to logic board
• Reconnect hard drive to cable
• Reattach bracket
• Reconnect battery
• Lower case lagao aur screws lagaao
Tips & Precautions
Screw sizes aur unki positions note karna bohot zaroori hai.
Static discharge se bachne ke liye anti-static mat ya wrist strap use karo.
Connectors ko parallel direction se pull karo, angle se nahi.
When reinstalling sensor ribbon and IR cable, ensure they are aligned properly and not pinched.
The cable must be mounted snugly; if it’s loose, vibration ya rubbing ho sakta hai, damage cause kar sakta hai.
Wrapping the cable in tape helps avoid abrasion against the aluminum case.
